Looking every bit the Pop star from the outset, Javine stormed into Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 with a mission. With an impressive background she made a strong impression but wasn't chosen to be a part of the girl band - Girls Aloud.
But in a fabulous twist of fate, soon after the show Javine was inundated with offers and in 2003 she signed to Innocent Records. And having spent much of the year in the studio, Javine has emerged with her first album 'Surrender'.
It's the perfect Summer album and it's clear that this very personal album reflects her childhood influences; she grew up listening to the sounds of Aretha Franklin and 80's stars such as Bobby Brown and Salt 'n' Pepper.
The R & B/Soul/Pop sounds of this album scream star quality. This isn't a manufactured set up, it's raw.
Her seductive vocal range, deep harmonies accompanied by a medley of acoustic guitars highlights her diverse vocal talent.
The opening top five smash hit 'Real Things' sets the pace of the album as one full of energy. It's sassy and infectious mix is again exposed in 'Best Of my Love'. The funky base that makes up 'Messin' brings yet another dimension to the thirteen track album.
'Surrender without a doubt fortifies Javine's position as one of the leading R & B singers in the UK. Being snubbed by Popstars: The Rivals, was probably the best thing that could have happened to Javine. It's a safe bet to say that we're be hearing a lot more from this lady in the future. Watch this space for this is real talent ready to blossom.
