Gallagher gig promoters slam 'distasteful' ticket touts

The organisers of Liam Gallagher's upcoming charity gig for Japan have criticised touts for buying up tickets and selling them on for a profit, branding the practise "highly distasteful".

The former Oasis star has been the driving force behind the show at London's Brixton Academy on Sunday (03Apr11), which features performances from his new band Beady Eye, Primal Scream and Paul Weller.

The money from tickets sold will go to the Red Cross to help those affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, but many have been put up for sale on secondary websites as well as auction hub eBay.

Bosses at SJM, the promotion company behind the show, have now spoken out to slam ticket touts for setting out to make a profit from the charity event.

A statement from SJM reads, "We strongly disapprove of profiteering from the misery and suffering of the people in Japan. It is very disappointing that one secondary reseller and eBay continue to offer these charity fundraiser tickets... (It is) highly distasteful."
