West is a judge on design panel

Rap superstar Kanye West has been making use of his eye for design - by joining the judging panel for an innovation magazine's annual awards.

The Stronger rapper served alongside architects, fashion icons and film industry designers to pick the winners for Wallpaper magazine's prestigious Design Awards.

Wallpaper editor-in-chief, Tony Chambers, explains his decision to approach West came after viewing the star's online blog, in which he shares his favourite design discoveries with fans.

Chambers tells NME.com, "He's the most visually literate, design conscious musician of our generation. His blog informs and entertains a whole new demographic.

"As Kanye said about contemporary design when we asked him to be a judge, 'OK, great, I'm down!'"
