Moto GP champion Valentino Rossi has been out testing a Ferrari F1 car again, this time on the Catalunya circuit as a 'reward for winning the Moto GP title'.
Rossi is still contracted to Yamaha in Moto GP but rumours that he's considering a switch from two to four wheels have been circulating for years and this F1 test is the latest in a long line of exploratory off-season events.
Things didn't start well for the Italian champ though though. Wet weather limited his morning free practice session to two laps - and he spun off during the second.
But in the afternoon Rossi completed 68-laps on GP2-spec slick tyres clocking a best time of 1min25.200, which is less than four seconds off Kimi Raikkonen's lap record.
"It was a good test, although it was wet in the morning and without grip I had some problems," said Rossi. "Fortunately it dried off in the afternoon, I could use the slicks and improve my lap times."
Ferrari bosses haven't ruled out employing Valentino on a full-time basis should a three car line-up per team ever come to fruition.
