BMW unveiled this six-cylinder concept motorcycle in Milan. The looks and styling are something of a red-herring, but the engine is vital because it will power the new LT grand tourer when it's launched next year.
The LT will be BMW's continent-crushing rival for the Honda Goldwing and Harley-Davidson Electra Glide and it's aimed squarely at the American market.
Amazingly, the engine in the concept has six cylinders set straight across the frame of the motorcycle, yet it's not as wide as you might imagine, because BMW's state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques means it's able to squeeze the cylinders very close together. The company says it's drawn on its car know-how of six cylinder engines to create a super-smooth and torque laden motor.
Expect the LT grand tourer to launch in the summer of next year.
