This is the new Aprilia RSV4R superbike, a more affordable alternative to the Italian firm's blistering RSV4 Factory that's based around the same high-tech powertrain.
It's driven by the same liquid cooled 999cc V4 engine and has the same slipper clutch, ride-by-wire engine management system, six speed transmission and 14,100rpm redline.
But the downgraded RSV4R uses different (and cheaper) chassis components. The aluminium frame is non-adjustable, while the Ohlin suspension parts are replaced with non-adjustable inverted Showa forks and a Sachs rear shock and steering damper.
More changes include fewer carbon fibre parts, which mean the bike's weight has gone up slightly, and there's been a switch from Pirelli to Metzeler tyres. But the Factory's epic Brembo brake system remains untouched.
But what's really impressive is the price: £12,499 or £2500 cheaper than the Factory version, even though this bike benefits from the same epic powertrain and all the research and development that went into its big brother.
If you're not a track purist and don't need all the motorsport components, it might be easier to justify this cut price RSV4R as a road riding weapon.
