The first X5, launched back in 1999, was a ground breaker. It was the first SUV that was fun to drive. After seven-years, and more than 600,000 cars later, rivals from Land Rover and Porsche were catching up in terms of driver appeal and in November 2006, BMW debuted the second-generation car.
