IMA stands for Integrated Motor Assist. The Civic IMA hybrid is only available as a four-door hatchback. Like its Toyota rival, the Honda uses an electric motor to boost the power of its petrol engine. In the Civic, the 14PS electric motor works by giving the engine extra go when accelerating, thus reducing fuel consumption.
