Bet you never thought a Volvo diesel would be desirable? Now it's easier to buy a Porsche than a comfy Swedish estate...
Volvo has never seen anything like it - not since ABBA has a Swedish product been so desirable. A year after it was launched the XC90 SUV is still as rare as hen's teeth, with the D5 diesel still the pick of the bunch.
While there's now a 2004 model that's even more sought after, if you really want to own one join the queue for 2005! That's right, it's easier to buy a Porsche 911 than get your hands on this chunky sports utility vehicle.
Volvo just can't make enough XC90s to meet demand, with production of the 2004 model year already sold out, some owners are cashing in and selling their new and used cars for a hefty premium.
Waiting lists now stretch way into 2004 and your best option is to but a deposit down for the 2005 car, available in May.
Prices for the 2005 car are naturally on the up too. The entry level D5 S comes in at ¯¿½30,120, while the popular SE is ¯¿½32,470. For those who really want to give BMW X5 owners a slap in the chops, the top spec D5 Executive with geartronic auto box is a whopping ¯¿½46,840!
