It’s not easy to find a crossover SUV that’s big enough to accommodate the whole family, but which is really luxurious as well. Most people start off looking through the more sporty SUVs with an eye for versatility and performance - not necessarily for mountain climbing - but for a ramble in the country or towing. Specs like horsepower, suspension and all-wheel drive make a difference. It’s a combination of factors that very few manufacturers can balance well: versatility on the road and interior comfort that looks good as well.
The Infiniti luxury cars achieve a good balance, particularly in their sporty rear-wheel-drive models, of which many have all-wheel-drive options. Many sporty SUVs achieve the versatility in terms of engine specs, but err on the side of presentation. Even worse, some glamour-mobiles are heavy on gadgetry and light under the hood, transmitting every knock through the suspension on a rougher road.
The Infiniti QX has a lot of space for a big family – space for eight – which places it in the full-size luxury class. Despite its size, the 2012 models retain a kind class on the road, attracting peoples’ attention without being flashy, with chrome front grilles and large 20-inch tyres. They’re available in a sleek palette of sage, platinum, currant, white and graphite.
Don’t be distracted by the exterior, however, because under the hood is a 5.6-liter 400-horsepower V8 with advanced variable valve timing and direct injection that improves performance and response.
Infiniti hasn’t skimped on the interior, either. It features standard seven-seating capacity with room for eight with a 60/40 folding bench seat. Leather appointed seating across three rows, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, tri-zone automatic temperature control, an 8-inch touch screen display, navigation system and around-view monitor with sonar are just some of its luxury interior features.
As far as sales are concerned, the Infiniti QX has gone down well. It was designed to attract and keep peoples’ attention, not just for its looks but its performance and versatility as well.
