Dressed in stylish moon silver or rich ruby red, Sony Ericsson's curvaceous Vivaz is an all round stunner. So is its eight megapixel camera. It shoots in HD - just use the dedicated buttons for photo and video.
The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is the latest device from Sony Ericsson and the successor to the Satio, but what we want to know is, does it live up to it’s name as the phone that “shoots the perfect picture?” Is it’s HD functionality really all that and does it rival the iPhone?
There’s no denying that the Sony Ericsson Vivaz looks fantastic and is possibly one of the hottest looking phones on the market so here’s what we thought.
What we loved
The touch screen – Better than the Satio, very responsive, easy to use with or without stylus.
The camera – Fast, easy to use and perfectly clear quality, it will happily replace any basic compact camera.
The HD function – Amazing and the sole reason to purchase this phone, makes you want to shoot video a lot more, plus uploading to the web is a matter of a few simple steps.
Multiple windows functionality – Have as much running as you like, great for those of us who need to be in three places at once.
Look of the phone - Ericsson do very well with the aesthetic side of things and it really is pleasing to see they are at last ditching the square shape phone with square buttons in favor of sleekness.
What needs improvement
The apps – There’s not loads of apps for the Vivaz yet, although you do get Play now (the latest place to download all your apps).
Music organizing – It’s a little fiddly to sync everything up, and I’d be more likely to stick to my iPod.
Side buttons - Having dedicated video and camera buttons slapped on the side means you can accidently tap into the Vivaz’s visual powers.
Overall the Vivaz is a neat, little smartphone and strikes a perfect balance between being compact and feature-filled goodness.
