Step-by-step guide to smoky eyes
Use a cream eye shadow because this will last longer than a powder. The idea is to build up the product so the eyes look sexy and the product stays on much longer.
Step 1
Apply the cream shadow along the lash line and up to the crease of the eye. Any colours in greys, deep blues or dark brown are great for the smoky eye effect.
Next apply a very strong liner along the lash line. A long-wear gel liner is perfect for this. Apply from corner to corner, close to the lash line and lift slightly at the end of the eye.
Step 2
To create the smokiness, smudge over the eye liner with a dark eye shadow.
Smudge along the lash line, building slightly on the outside corner. Use your fingers to smudge if you want to.
Step 3
Apply a powder liner underneath the eye, close into the lash line. Once applied, run the smudge brush over it to make the line soft and smoky.
Step 4
Apply two coats of mascara, making sure that the first coat is dry before applying the second coat.
Tip
A smoky eye works better if it's not too painted on and looks a bit deconstructed.
