Following Jamie Oliver's junk food campaign most of us are now aware of why we should avoid too much sugar in our diets; it rots our teeth, makes us pile on the pounds, and affects our mood and concentration.

Another ingredient we should be looking to avoid in large quantities is wheat, and wheat based products, and it is believed many of us may have a wheat intolerance of some form or another, which can result in bloating and stomach pain.

This doesn’t have to mean the end of tasty desserts and snacks however and we’ve teamed up with Fiona McDonald Joyce to bring you some delicious sugar and wheat free alternatives.

Nutritionist and cookery consultant Fiona has written a number of best selling cookbooks, including The Holford Low GL Diet Cookbook and Smart Foods for Smart Kids, co-authored with leading nutrition writer Patrick Holford, published by Piatkus
