I am a 9 year old boy and I am already experiencing erections. My mates laughed at me the other day at school because my penis became erect. I also have this feeling that makes me touch myself when it is straight. What is happening to me and why am I so young for this to happen to me? Please help me as it is a problem. Anonymous

You have nothing to worry about. There are plenty of lads of nine or younger who get erections. Even babies get them sometimes! They are a normal part of growing up and because they can be visible lads often make smutty jokes about them. It won't be too much longer now before they are experiencing the same thing. I bet they'll still be laughing about erections, though. It's one of the ways that some lads handle embarrassment, so I shouldn't take it to heart. They may even be jealous!
Erections often happen for no reason at all, although as you get older you may find that they happen more when you fancy someone. As you are discovering, they can feel good. Lots of kids around your age start touching their sexual organs because they like the feeling. It's one of the ways that your body starts preparing itself for maturity, so you have nothing to worry about so long as you do this in private!
