From a bespoke kitchen to a quick cosmetic makeover, here is Alison's pick of the bunch:
The Kitchen Doctor
A brilliant service which can, quite literally, replace any part or whole of any make of kitchen, providing it is still in production. Parts can be sent anywhere in the UK, and they can supply and fit if you live in the South East of England.
Replacement Kitchen Doors
www.replacementkitchendoors.uk.com
Exactly what it says on the tin - save up to 75% of the cost of fitting a new kitchen by retaining the old cabinets and just changing the doors and trims. You can even get new end panels or have the exposed cabinet ends veneered to match your new replacement doors.
Pimp Your Kitchen
Imaginative solution to revamping a kitchen without having to mess with the units - custom made and very funky splashbacks - a breath of fresh air in the world of kitchen design.
IKEA
Have a fabulous range of stylish and affordable units - and they are also very well made; the draw mechansims would rival other much more expensive kitchen ranges. Kitchen planning and installation service available for the fainthearted.
Wickes
Not perhaps an obvious place to go, but it's where builders source their kitchens, which is a bit of a clue as to the standard of manufacture, design and value for money. Some very good looking kitchens here.
Trading Bargains
Famous for its cheesy but effective advertisements, and smart enough to have bought a whole load of MFI bankrupt kitchen stock, which it is selling at vastly reduced prices. Kitchen units from just £16.
Just Fitted Kitchens
Luxury handmade kitchens at up to 40% less than well known designer brands, from a family run company focusing on service and value. Also 30% off top branded appliances. No sales reps.
Kitchen Discount Centre
One of my favourite kitchen suppliers, offering a vast range of traditional and modern kitchens (high gloss German models being a speciality), exceptional value (about 30% cheaper than elsewhere) and excellent service to boot. A first rate company.
Paragon Furniture
Bespoke solid wood kitchens at non bespoke prices. Tucked away on wasteland in the east end of London, this is a top end joinery firm turning out bespoke quality wooden kitchen with all mod cons, just far cheaper than the high street competitors.
CJF Trading
Shaker doors at CJF trading start at just £17.50 making them a great option for a quick makeover on a budget. Period and fixed frame options are available and are equally affordable.
