  • - Find an open, sunny space in your garden
  • - Mix compost into the soil to fill it with nutrients
  • - Finally, plant the bulbs with their tips peeking through the soil

  • - Find a fairly sunny spot in the garden where you can place a grow bag (a plastic bag containing ready made compost)
  • - Knead the bag like a pillow to loosen the compost and pierce the bottom of the bag for drainage
  • - Cut out the pre-marked planting squares at the top of the bag, scoop out a hole in the compost and place your plant inside

  • - Best grown in a sunny position where the soil isn’t too wet
  • - Arrange the seeds in straight lines approx 1 cm deep and 7 cm apart
  • - Gently spread soil over the seeds making sure they’re well covered

  • - Find a shady spot where the soil is damp
  • - Mix compost into the soil to fill it with nutrients
  • - Dig out a hole just big enough to hold the roots, plant and cover securely with soil
Gooseberries

  • - Plant in a sunny but sheltered area
  • - Dig a big enough hole so the roots have room to spread
  • - As they begin to sprout, remove any side branches which are less than 18 cm long and reduce the length of allthe others by half

  • - Great in a borderor container
  • - Best planted in groups

  • - Bright scarlet flowers and fruit
  • - Best grown in a border or under a window sill
  • - Harvest fruit in October (when green) then store in a cool, dark place until golden yellow

  • - Best in a border or a container
  • - Place hessian around terracotta pots to protect them from frost
