Caring for your flowers
- Narcissi should last for up to a week, perhaps more if you take good care of the flowers
- They like to be kept cool, away from a direct heat source. If kept constantly cool, the flowers can last up to three weeks
- Keep away from ripening fruit, which releases ethylene gas and prematurely ages blooms
- Remove dead heads from the flowers
- They are quite thirsty - keep water topped up regularly
Displaying your flowers
- Unlike other flowers, narcissi stems do not need to be re-cut before displaying. However, sometimes the tip of the stem can dry out - in which case - trim the end of the stem by approximately 2cm
- Never bash the stems, it damages the vascular cells so they can't take up water
- Always use fresh water
- Flower food doesn't make much difference to narcissi, but does cut bacteria in the water
- Keep vases clean and avoid metallic vases
- The use of oasis is not recommended
