A disc-less future is a possibility according to series creator plus Mario and Zelda release dates confirmed and The Sims 3 World Adventures PC screens
Legendary Japanese developer Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka, the creative genius behind the Pro Evolution Soccer titles has admitted that a disc-less, download only future remains a possibility for the long running football series.
When asked by GamesTM magazine if he has considered transforming PES into an online series, Seabass stated: "Yes, I do think about it. But I also think about the fact that 100 per cent of the people aren't connected to the internet. When that day comes, it's something we should definitely consider or do."
He added: "However, even if it's 80 per cent, there's still 20 per cent who can't play because they aren't connected. I have to take those people seriously as well."
Is this frank admission a further indication of the videogames business eventually becoming a download-only enterprise with no games stores on the High Street? We don't think so - not in the near future anyway. But with the recent release of the PSPgo - am enhanced version of the PSP that only plays downloadable games, we certainly agree that the industry is moving in that direction.
Meanwhile, Nintendo has announced the release dates for two of the most hotly anticipated titles this side of Christmas. New Super Mario Bros the classic 2D Mario platform game is expected to hit the shelves with full multiplayer glory (the game supports four simultaneous players) on November 20. Zelda also makes a return in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks on DS - due for release on Dec 11. After all the fun we had with playing Phantom Hourglass back in 2007 we can't wait to play this latest update.
Finally, we've got some brand new screens from The Sims 3 World Adventures - the first expansion pack to the smash hit The Sims 3 game that was released earlier in the year. From mastering martial arts in Shang Simla, China, discovering rich culture and famous landmarks on a romantic getaway to Champs Les Sims, France or exploring the depths of ancient tombs in Al Simhara, Egypt, players can take their Sims on a journey around the globe search for treasure learning new skills and interacting with other Sims they meet along the way. The ambitious expansion is set for release on both PC and Mac on November 20.
