Next Molyneux game not Fable 3 but is a 'scientific achievement'

Bold claims from Black And White man, plus Greenpeace disses console makers, and Splinter Cell Conviction sent back to the drawing board

Woo, hark at him. Peter Molyneux doesn't just think his next game is gonna be good, he think it will be a 'significant scientific achievement'. Talking at the recent Microsoft event in San Francisco he told Wired magazine, 'I think it's such a significant scientific achievement that it will be on the cover of Wired.'

'My next game will not be Fable 3,' he announced. 'It's not a game I can talk to you about right now, but: AI, simulation, the way characters interact - we've had smart people working on that stuff for over a decade with the Fable games and Black and White.

'I think, one, gaming and social networking will come together more. Two, the devices we use to play games will continue to change radically. Three, we will still have a football game every year. Four, at least three of the existing genres will be redefined! Five, a game will be regarded as a major scientific breakthrough.'

Blimey!

Sort yourselves out console manufacturers. That's the message from Greenpeace, who have found polyvinyl chloride, phthalates, beryllium, and bromine in all three major consoles, many of which were deemed unnecessary.

'If manufacturers only looked at each other's products, they'd quickly see ways of replacing their own dirty components with toxic-free materials,' Greenpeace wrote on their website. 'A greener, cleaner game console is possible. There's no excuse for playing dirty.'

Finally, Splinter Cell Conviction has apparently gone 'back to the drawing board' if reports from Xbox World 360 mag are true. The date could now be as late as Spring 2010. The mag is reporting that Conviction was outdated by more recent gaming developments - especially Ubi's own Assassin's Creed.

We leave you today with shots from Dead Space, which is, according to makers EA, 'a third-person sci-fi survival horror experience that promises to deliver the ultimate in psychological thrills and gruesome action.'
