Nintendo DS keeps breaking records!

Sales milestone reached in UK, KOTOR 3 rumours are rife and Stranger PC screens

It seems Nintendo can do no wrong at the moment! Building on the phenomenal success of the Wii console, news has reached us that the company is celebrating breaking another sales record - this time with the popular handheld the Nintendo DS.

It was only a year ago that the company was celebrating having two million of its handheld consoles in UK gamers' hands. Now that figure has doubled! The company has managed to shift a staggering 4 million DS' with over a million being sold in 2007 alone!

General Manager of Nintendo UK David Yarnton said of the milestone: "With its wide appeal and unique software, the Nintendo DS has significantly expanded the gaming audience and driven growth across the whole market. Alongside the unprecedented performance of Wii, and with demand still as strong as ever for the Nintendo DS, it shows that these revolutionary consoles continue to appeal to everyone."

In contrast, Sony has kept official sales figures for the PSP close to its corporate chest but industry observers forecast that at best the company has sold maybe one million handhelds in the UK - a mere 25 per cent of what Nintendo has sold in the same time.

Meanwhile, the rumour mill is once again going into overdrive - and this time it's related to the news that LucasArts and BioWare have joined forces - prompting speculation that the duo may once again be working together on a Star Wars game - namely Knights of the Old Republic 3 - the third instalment in the fantastic Star Wars RPG. However, it could get better. Gossip circulating the web suggest that BioWare is also working on a Star Wars MMO RPG - an online role playing game that could be played with hundreds or indeed thousands of other gamers over the Internet. We reckon this is one rumour that has legs - otherwise why would EA, the worlds biggest publisher recently spend literally hundreds of millions of dollars buying BioWare? Expect to hear an announcement in the not too distant future.

Finally, check out our latest batch of Stranger screens forthcoming on the PC. The game touts itself as an RPG with RTS element (that's role playing game and real time strategy for those who aren't fans of abbreviations). We'll be able to judge for ourselves when the title gets a release at the end of November.
