Bear in mind that to enter a city you first need to hero a town.
Before you enter your city of choice I would advise setting up feeder companies. These are companies at a lower level that hold land, make money, and from which you can transfer money into a bigger company. In this case I would recommend setting up 2-3 town feeders for each city company. You really need to have the town companies at around 50k profit, but without a drasticaly high building worth. Ideally, the company will not be worth more than 1mil when it has 0 cash - this way it can get a large amount of onshore cash (available for transfering) without heroing on worth - but whilst looking strong enough to deter people from bombing it.
I think you may have guessed by now that you will be using these companies to transfer money into the city company. If it were me, I would take my company into the city of choice, take over a low value building, change it to a market stall, and quickly change stock until I had done 500 actions. I would then build the first HQ on the plot I had the market stall on. I would then focus on the town companies, transfering the maximum amount allowed to the city company (1.5mil per day (3 x 500k)
Where you go from here depends on whether you want an "easy" option - and heroing with nothing to show for your action, or whether you want the challenge of trying to fight for land, with the gamble of gaining lots against losing lots.
If you want the simple option then keep on transfering money into the city company until it heroes on cash. Write an appropriate hero speech, such as "I'm lame - I won't even try and get land", and then move onto a capital.
If you want the tough option then good on you. Rest assured that this method not only is a lot more fun - it's also likely to improve your game play significantly. The skills you will learn in the city you will be able to use in every other location in netro.
Transfer in until you have AT LEAST £20mil onshore. Do not stop transfering when it reaches 20mil - always keep transfering in! But at this stage you can consider starting to take some land. Using the stats, find a company that as low profit and very low worth. Also ensure that this company is not obviously associated with any bigger companies e.g. even if Company of Chris looks weak, check that Company of Chris2 is not there is support! A probable sign of someone who hasn't read this guide, is if they still have a level 1 HQ. If you click on them and they have heroed one town and have a massive 3mil total worth, then press that magic highlight button, and bomb their land. This is the time when the interesting memo's start flying. They will probably not be very happy that you've bombed them. But be nice, for they are not as good a player as you. Simply direct them here, and tell them to come up with some better insults next time!
However, if you want to keep the land very long then dont gloat over it, and secure it soon. If you wake up the next day to find all your land bombed, dont worry! Simply transfer in more money, and have another go in a few days. Make sure that you BUILD SOMETHING SENSIBLE when building, and secure it effectively - view the guide to security. If you do not do the effective building and securing then I expect you'll hold the land for about as long as it takes you to say "ohh, damn".
A key thing to be remembered at this time is not to assume anything. Don't send abusive memo's either. If you give abuse to what appears to be a really weak company, just to find out that the persons owns 50% of the map, then you can probably kiss goodbye to ever holding land in that city!
Bear in mind that even if you do get bombed to bits - all is not lost! Nice memo's to the big players can often lead to advice or help, and sometimes the start of a long partnership! My current netro playing partner I've been with for a few years now, and I met when I owned most of a city and he was begging me for land!
If you do get some land then stop transfering into that company when it reaches about 40mil worth, bring in a new company, transfer into it until it has about 15-20mil, and then transfer the land into it. The key to remember is that once you have made the effort to get the land not to let it go easily!
When you decide to hero a company, transfer all the land out of it, and transfer the last bit of money into it. When you hero make sure you write a suitable message - thanking everyone that helped you (especially if you don't want them to bomb your new company that holds your land)
Go and pick a capital:
Heroing on land (8%, not reccomended, unless in a hurry):
Follow the adivce above until you have about 10mil in the company. During
the time that
you are transfering, watch the map carefully if you can, to see roughly what
time patterns
different companies log in. i.e. most players are British so unlikely
they'll be on between
midnight and 7am. However, make a note of those companies which are on
during these times, and
also the first companies on in the morning. You need to select a couple of
companies that are
NOT online at all during this time. The total amount of land they have needs
to be above 8%.
Pick a day (I would recommend friday, as some people will be drunk when they get home, and not check netro), and at about midnight bomb and build on 8% as quickly as you can. Then cross your fingers and hope that no-one decides to bomb you. Some times it's advantagous to secure everything, so that your profit is a lot less, so that your company doesn't stand out so much. Or just ignore the guide to how to build and build as badly as possible. But again, try not to draw attention to yourself (i.e. dont build 8% of pigfarms, as I can almost guarantee that whoever see's it will wipe you). About 8 hours from when you got 8% you should hero. Write a lovely hero speech, telling people they really should check their companies atleast once every 8 hours, and move on to that capital of your choice.
