Guide to Bombing:
I think I should start by saying that DBombs are the way forward. Seriously though, if you want to smash a building to the ground, why not use a DBomb? The only reasons I can see is if you dont want to smash it to the groud, if the building is highly secured, or if you do not have DBombs available to you.
I think a point I should make at this stage, is how do you tell if you want to smash it to the ground, or leave the properties losing money?
There is no easy answer to this. It is really an accumulation of factors, including location security, how often the person is online, how much money they have onshore, how much money you have, whether their properties are secured, and so on. I'll try my best to explain the different circumstances, and what I would do. Really it's up to you, and there is no right or wrong way of doing things.
Ultimately, you want to bomb a particular person, cost them lots of money, and make it so that either you have the land, or someone else has it - so long as it is not the person you are bombing! If the person you are bombing clearly has an easily identifiable sleeping pattern i.e. they are never online between midnight and 8am GMT, then they may be a good victim for putting all their land to 10%, and leaving it to lose them money for 8 hours before they come back online and fix it. However, if the person is part of an alliance, and therefore has much geater day and night cover, then maybe it's not the way forward. However, all you need is a couple of hours gap, and you can cost them more than it'll cost you.
If the security of the place is high, then it's going to cost you a fair bit to bomb. This may mean that it's more advisable to bomb all the land, take it for yourself, and secure it strongly, so as to either cost them a fortune bombing it back, or cost them a fortune CTOing it back. It would be a win-win situation if it hadn't cost you a fortune to bomb it in the first place! I would advise this type of method if their land is not secured. A strong initial hit, take all the land and secure it, and you've got the advantage. If the land is already secured then you may have to get out the old HTC (Hi-Tech Centre) if you want to bomb, and if the location security is high.
If you have more cash than them, then I would simply bomb and take. There isn't much point knocking them down to 10%, as other people might take the land, and then you'll probably have to CTO them. Take the land, and make the, keep working for it. But bear in mind they may well be considering knocking you down to 10% to try and lower your cash, to put themselves on a more even foothold with you.
If they have more cash than you then there is no harm in a few fire bombs when noone is online. If left to spread for a bit, then they can cause amazing damage for the price they cost. Especially advisable on fire strike days, in poor fire security locations, or if they dont have sprinklers. Have the extra advantage that if left long enough then the props they are on will get down into very high % damage, meaning they can be taken over very cheaply, renovated easily, and then you might have yourself a nicely secured building for a fraction of the cost that it would have been even if you had bought it as free land!
One final thing to remember is when the police catch you. If I remember correctly then if the buildings have no security and you bomb them, then the bomb with always go through. You may well get caught by the police after and fined, but the bomb will still go through. This type of police capture is what I call standard capture, as you can get caught like this irrespective of the building, security on it, or bomb used. If the building has security on it then the security may catch you before the bomb goes through - stopping it. Even if it is police strike the security can still stop the trick from being played, but you will escape any police fines that you would normally get. It should be remembered that even if you use bombs that will avoid the security (screamers, fritzers, firestarters) you can still get caught by the standard capture.
Everyone has their own preference for what bombs to use in what circumstances. I'll repeat the advice I've given in almost every section in this guide - play around. Find out what is best for you and go with that. I think you'll find that playing around with bombs will be most fun :-)
