An updated online offering including support for 4-player mixed doubles, ensures that Virtua Tennis 2009 stays amongst the top seeds.
EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis

Grand Slam Tennis is one of the first games compatible with the new Wii MotionPlus, Nintendo¢s latest Wii accessory that attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player's arm position and orientation, providing players with a much greater level of precision ¢ ideal for a tennis title! Players will be able to perform top spin, slice, flat, lobs and drop shots as they play through a selection of 20 top tennis players and even get to grace the hallowed courts of Wimbledon.

Sega¢s answer to the Mario Tennis titles that allowed gamers to play as their favourite characters in a host of tennis mini games,was a huge success when launched in 2008. There¢s over 15 playable Sega characters to get to grips with including Sonic the Hedgehog, AiAi from Super Monkeyball fame, Ulala of Space Channel 5 and Amigo from Samba De Amigo. Collect rings with Sonic the Hedgehog, bash zombies in a House of the Dead homage, smash monkey balls through giant rings in the Monkey Ball Level. There¢s more unlockables than an oversized chastity belt and the game is all the better for it as you never get bored of trying to see something new.

Although not strictly ¢tennis¢, we had to include this table tennis game from the team behind the GTA titles because it¢s just such hugely addictive fun to play. This title is all about reflex action, precision and intuitive control ¢ and all taking place on a court that¢s about the same size as a rabbit hutch. Single player is good, but play this game on Xbox Live and enjoy one of the most compelling online tennis games we¢ve ever played.

Our favourite on the go tennis title, Smash Court Tennis 3 boasts an impressive game sharing system, where players can go head-to-head with a friend in versus mode using a single UMD. The first Wii tennis title is still one worth checking out. Fortunately, Wii Sports comes bundled with Nintendo¢s console so everyone gets a chance to play. Players grab the Wii Remote like a racket and swing ¢ the game registers forehands, backhands, volleys, lobs, slices, spin and power depending on how fast the user swings and at what angle. Don¢t worry about moving around the court to get to the ball ¢ the game automatically moves players into position. A great party title that can be enjoyed by both novices and veterans alike.
