It's wonderful news for me because Mrs B is now happy. She's not been pleased with me recently. I think that the last straw for her was when she fell over my prostrate body on the landing in the early hours and broke her leg falling down the stairs.
And it's also wonderful for everyone else because I'm going to be spending every spare moment of my bloody life for the foreseeable future putting the sodding units together and fitting them into a kitchen space that hasn't a wall that's true or a square inch of plaster that doesn't crumble to dust as soon as you approach it with a drill-bit. So...no time for chitchat, I'm afraid. Sorry! But at least I'm going to be saving nearly £2,000* by doing it myself. Best regards, Ron. *I drive a car that didn't cost much more than that! |

I can tell that you're all desparately eager to know how I'm progressing. Well, all the units are now assembled. I have a few screws and bolts left over. But everything's standing up so I'm not too worried about that. The next stage is the all-important, crucial first double unit in the corner of the kitchen which will have to accomodate all those ruddy water-pipes, the stop-**** etc. Where's my jig-saw? Regards, Ron. PS I worked all through Thursday night until the my neighbour's **** heralded a new dawn. Phew, was I bushed! But I was ****-a-hoop, too. I've had fun soldering water pipes today.
It's one of the best feelings in DIY when you do some soldering and there are no leaks when you turn that stop-**** back on. I was so ****-a-hoop I made a gallon of ****-a-leakie, my favourite soup. Regards, Ron. |

I'll include it in the batch of pics of my home-made furniture I'm going to send soon, Leevan. As for us DIYers...we can be a little too ****-sure. But not all of us are incompetent *****rds. Regards, Ron. |

I've been lazy this weekend. (When I stand up I feel dizzy. I put that down to the head-injury.)
So I had to make a stew for Sunday lunch on a primus-stove while surrounded by top-of-the-range kitchen units etc. Were Mrs B and Rex sympathetic? No. They just sat there watching the Grand Prix. Someone I've never heard of won it. Eventually. Being British and proud of carrying on in the face of adversity I managed to deliver a decent meal. Regards, Ron. |

Good on ya Ron, I'd hate to think of ya going without a decent Sunday lunch.

I'd've been happy with a corned-beef sandwich, mico. But Mrs B and Rex expect a hot meal come Sunday lunchtime. I made heroic efforts to provide them with one. I think that Marco would've been proud of me and given me a hug. Tomorrow evening I start on re-connecting the plumbing. Did you know that you can get joints with the solder already fixed inside? Doing it yourself's getting far too easy. I'm off to empty the slop-bucket. Regards, Ron. Last edited by Ron Beard; 26th April 2009 at 08:50 PM. |
