The Finalists

  • The Girls: Stacey Soloman
    Voted off in 3rd place

    Age: 19
    From: Essex
    Job: Student

History: Stacey lives with her mum and is a single mother herself to one-year-old son Zach.

She has applied for the show before, but has never made it past the first audition stage.

She loves singing and has been performing for as long as she can remember. She thinks the judges will think she's stupid as everyone thinks she's silly, but she hopes her singing will shine through.
  • The Boys: Rikki Loney
    Voted off Week 2

    Age: 21
    From: Glasgow
    Job: Singer

History: Rikki has previously auditioned in series one, two and five. In series five he reached Boot Camp stage, but was devastated to be culled at the final 50 stage. He has now picked himself back up and is determined to do well in the competition.

In the last year he has been singing anywhere he can - from clubs to residential homes - to gain as much experience as possible.

He is desperate to win, be an established singer and perform at Wembley.
  • The Girls: Rachel Adedeji
    Voted off Week 4

    Age: 17
    From: London
    Job: Student

History: Rachel attended stage school from the age of two and whilst there performed in many musical productions. She was also a singer in the musical Mamma Mia!

She's currently studying musical theatre. Last year she applied for The X Factor but only made it as far as Boot Camp.
  • Over 25s: Olly Murs
    Came second in finals

    Age: 27
    From: Reading
    Job: Dance teacher

History: Danyl went to musical theatre school, but didn't like it as he felt he was more of a free spirit and being there was like being in a bubble.

He's been in many boy bands over the years - some credible and some cheesy. He's bored of artists that are just “good singers” and thinks his writing abilities make him stand out.

He used to dance at Pasha nightclub while he was at university and reckons no boys on The X Factor have ever danced like he can.
  • The Groups: Miss Frank
    Voted off Week 3

Members: Graziella Affinita, 25, Shaniece Davis, 21, and Shar Alexandra, 25
From: This all-girl group hail from London
Jobs: Graziella is a student, Shaniece is a hairdresser and Shar works as a recruitment consultant.

History: Graziella started singing in church choirs and school plays as a child, and joined a gospel choir at 15. Shaniece started singing at the tender age of three, and has performed in local churches, theatres, college productions and open mic poetry jams.
Shar joined a girl group when she was 18, which split in 2005. All three girls entered The X Factor as solo artists, but were given the chance to progress if they formed a group at Boot Camp.
  • The Girls: Lucie Jones
    Voted off Week 5

    Age: 18
    From: Cardiff
    Job: Student

History: Lucie has just finished her A-levels and occasionally sings in a corporate entertainment jazz trio.

She has two dreams - to perform at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and on the live finals stage of The X Factor.

She wants to make Simon Cowell think “wow, this girl can sing”.
  • The Boys: Lloyd Daniels
    Voted off Week 8

    Age: 16
    From: Cardiff
    Job: Student

History: Lloyd started singing when he was five by entering a karaoke competition whilst on holiday at a caravan park in Newquay.

He would love to be the first Welsh winner and hopes the whole of Wales gets behind him.
  • The Groups: Kandy Rain
    Voted off Week 1

Members: Chemmane Applewhite, 26, Coco Lloyd, 22, Azi Jegbefume, 25, and Khatereh Dovani, 24
From: Kandy Rain are another all-girl group from London
Jobs: Azi is an Irish-born model, Coco is studying law, Khatereh works in her mum’s beauty salon and Chemmane is a dance teacher.

History: The four members of Kandy Rain met at an audition 12 months ago when they were chosen to be in a seven piece band - nothing ever came of this but the four remained friends and decided to form their own girl group.

They called themselves Kandy Rain as “with candy as much as you love it, you know it's not good for you and we're going to rain on everyone's parade”.
  • The Groups: John and Edward
    Voted off Week 7

Members: John and Edward Grimes are twins from Dublin
Age: The spiky-haired brothers are 17 years of age
Job: John and Edward are both still at school and live with their parents

History: When they were 14, the boys entered a school talent competition separately. Edward came first, but John could only manage third place.

The boys once bumped into the Pussycat Dolls in a Dublin hotel bar and they sang to them - the girls invited them to a party after the show but sadly they were too young to go.

Likely to be the act many viewers - and judges - love to hate in this year’s competition, but Louis has stood by them since their first audition.
  • Over 25s: Jamie Archer
    Voted off Week 6

    Age: 33
    From: London
    Job: Musician

History: Jamie is a “true musician” - he loves music, writing and performing.

He saw footage of Jimi Hendrix performing in concert when he was just 10 years old and knew he wanted to be a musician.

He's been playing gigs in pubs and clubs for over eight years but never got that “big break”.

He can write his own material and play many instruments, guitar being his speciality. He finds it weird performing without an instrument.
  • Over 25s: Danyl Johnson
    Voted off Week 9

  • The Boys: Joseph Mceldery
    X-Factor Winner 2009

    Age: 18
    From: South Shields
    Job: Student

History: Joseph started singing a few years ago after playing around on a karaoke machine.

He entered The X Factor in 2007 and reached Boot Camp, but decided to leave the competition as he felt he was too young and wanted more experience.

Since then, he's performed in a few local musicals, including Grease, and came third in a regional singing competition in 2008. He's also entered the Pride of Tyneside competition and won “performer of the year”.
