Ricky Whittle: I believe I can win

16/12/2009 14:01

Ricky Whittle has revealed he is still determined to win Strictly Come Dancing despite landing in the dance-off.

The Hollyoaks hunk, who danced the Fox Trot and the Cha Cha Cha with partner Natalie Lowe on Saturday, told how he didn't feel any differently about his chances of taking home the glitterball trophy, even though he had been in the bottom two.

Ricky said: "I think if you're going to enter a competition you should always believe that you have a chance of winning or you should at least want to win, otherwise what's the point of joining?"

He added: "My dad used to say when I was younger 'If you're not going to go all the way why go at all?' and that's been something that I've always grown up on. And so I'll always give it 100 per cent and try and make every dance a show dance and try and make it a show-stopper because it could be my last."

Speaking about being in the dance-off Ricky said: "I don't think anything's changed for me at all. We are closer to the final but ever since week once I've always wanted to go all the way. You don't enter a competition to come second, third, fourth, fifth, whatever, you know?"

And dance partner Natalie believes the actor has what it takes to win the show.

She said: "I think Ricky is by far one of the strongest contenders on this show. He's got amazing technique and beautiful posture and he's got a great personality, so of all the celebrities, I think Ricky really does have the full package."
