Growing up under the spotlight as one of the famed Jackson family, La Toya¢s success has been more muted than that of her brother Michael or sister Janet. She originally wanted to study business law as she felt it was necessary for the family to have someone with a legal background.
She also wanted to work in McDonald¢s, be a nurse and a police officer. But her father had other ideas and as soon as La Toya was introduced to the stage at 16, she knew that was right for her.
In 1989 she posed for Playboy magazine - selling eight million copies, with the issue becoming the then-bestselling issue ever.
Jackson has filed for bankruptcy and in 1992 became the highest-paid performer at the Moulin Rouge, Paris, after signing a multimillion-dollar deal.
Relations with her family have at times been strained and she has penned a ¢tell-all¢ autobiography called Growing Up In The Jackson Family.
She said: ¢The CBB experience is going to be great because I still don¢t know the world. I have been sheltered, this is going to be great.¢
