Peter Lewis says:
This is the main reason that few of us actually achieve our cars true potential in fuel economy simply because most of us are always in a hurry and not paying the slightest bit of atention to our tyre pressure or carrying heavy loads.
I on the other hand purchased a C1 diesel for its potential mind blowing economy.I have also gone out of my way to purchase Bridgestone B381 tyres, the same used by the VW Lupo 3l that set all the current world fuel figure records.
How many of us during the hot sunny months of the summer always travel with the windows firmly shut and air vents closed. Most of us demand air conditioning as standard on our cars, unfortunately air conditioning and economy do not get on well together.
A journey from Llandundo in North Wales to Shildon near Durham in September saw me average 86mpg.From a brimmed tank to Bishop Castle along my route which is 186 miles i refilled my tank with just over 8 litres of fuel having kept my speedometer near enough to 50mph all the way up the M6 and off at the Tebay junction.
Few people would drive in this manner resulting in few people actually achieving the claimed manufacturers fuel economy figures.
The claimed 84mpg extra urban for the C1 diesel is easily available but only if you try very hard which few drivers of today are willing to do.

Most of what was on the video is common sense and for a person to think you can't take your foot off the gas or brake pedal - who taught her to drive!
