Jade distraught after CBB eviction Jade distraught after CBB eviction

20/01/2007

Loudmouthed Jade Goody left the Celebrity Big Brother house to complete silence tonight after admitting the experience might "end" her career.

The 25-year-old Big Brother veteran went directly to the studio where she was interrogated by BB host Davina McCall.

During their talk, Jade admitted she was "disgusted" by her behaviour and apologised for any offence she may have caused.

Before leaving the house, Jade said goodbye to her housemates, telling them: "I'm a p***k. I don't know why I put myself back in here. It's the beginning of my career and it's the end of my career."

Jade's eviction came after her treatment of Bollywood beauty Shilpa Shetty sparked an international race row.

The reality TV star lost in a head-to-head eviction battle with Shilpa, who Jade had referred to as "Shilpa Poppadom".

Despite apologising, and Shilpa herself admitting she didn't think Jade was being racist, viewers made more than 40,000 complaints and gave Jade the boot, with 82 per cent of the vote.

There was no crowd to welcome Jade back to the real world this time.

Instead she went straight to the studio for her exit interview, where she was shown a montage of news reports about the race row and footage of her arguments in the house.

At first Jade was speechless, but then the mother-of-two denied she was racist.

"It's nasty. I'm not a racist person but I can see why it's had the impact it has. I look nasty and small like someone I don't actually like myself," she said.

"With my hand on my heart, I sincerely apologise to anyone who was offended.

"I cannot dignify myself. I'm not a racist, I don't judge people by the colour of their skin."

She also denied she was a bully but said she was "outspoken".

When pressed by Davina, she admitted: "I'm a mum and 25 and in all honesty I'm disgusted with myself.

"I don't approve of any of my actions and I don't approve of the words that came out of my mouth. I'm embarrassed and disgusted."

She also said she had cleared the air with Shilpa.

"There's no bag of chips on my shoulder about Shilpa," she said.

It could all have been so different for the former dental nurse who has made an estimated £8 million since she first went on Big Brother in 2002.

Five years on, Jade has again failed to win the reality TV series after CBB bosses brought her in with mum Jackiey Budden and boyfriend Jack Tweed in a bid to boost flagging ratings.

Jade's reception was initially a disappointment as news reports blamed her for tumbling ratings.

But those ratings soon rose when Jade's alleged bullying of Shilpa hit international headlines, causing crowds in India to burn effigies of CBB producers and even drawing comments from Chancellor Gordon Brown.

In the past two weeks, viewers have seen a different side to the blonde renowned for her 'kebab', who came fourth in the non-celeb version of the show.

Now a sleek brunette, Jade might be older, but it seems she's not much wiser, as her clashes with fellow housemates have proved.

A few days of living with the Goody clan prompted director Ken Russell to up sticks and leave, branding them "vulgar guttersnipes".

Wannabe rocker Donny Tourette resorted to scaling the wall to escape when he was informed he'd have to be the star's servant for a task.

But viewers also saw a softer side to Jade when she doted on her mum Jackiey.

When her mum got kicked out, Jade's distraught reaction won over her housemates and viewers - albeit briefly - before she took up her mother's fight with the woman Jackiey had called "the Indian".

Jade soon bonded with former S Clubber Jo O'Meara and WAG Danielle Lloyd, often jumping into bed with them for an early morning gossip.

The three bonded over their dislike of Shilpa, complaining about her "dodgy" cooking and about her "controlling" the kitchen.

But Jade took Shilpa aside yesterday to say sorry and clear the air, telling her: "Things were said that were nasty and that wasn't meant."

Earlier, in tonight's eviction show, Jade admitted she was "petrified" of the response she would get outside the house.

She said: "It's so different this time round, because before I didn't have anything to lose... I don't wanna go through that crap again."
