Ian bags fourth place in CBB Ian bags fourth place in CBB

28/01/2007

Steps star Ian 'H' Watkins came fourth in the Celebrity Big Brother contest.

Despite making friends with everyone in the house, H finally annoyed the public with his hyperactive behaviour and was kicked off the show in the live final.

He jumped up and cheered when Davina announced his name and hugged his fellow housemates, before leaving the house to cheers.

He told Davina: "Oh my G*d I am shaking so much! I didn't think I'd be in the final. I gave myself two weeks in the house, I didn't think I'd last any longer."

He said the experience "changed every week" he was in there - depending on who was in the house.

Discussing the rows, he said: "I didn't agree with what Jade was saying. I love Shilpa to bits. From my knowledge there was nothing fuelled from racism whatsoever."

He added that he'd "felt completely out of his depth" in dealing with the arguing females. However, he commented that he "had no regrets" and had thoroughly enjoyed his stay.

Davina concluded: "You went in as H and came out as Ian."

Brave Ian entered the house after officially coming out as gay - a secret he had wanted to keep from Steps fans even after the band split.

In an energy-charged reunion with fellow singer Jo, the 29-year-old said he now felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.

During his time in the house, he made strong bonds with most of the housemates, rallying them when they were down, and became Bollywood beauty Shilpa's biggest confidante.

He also got on well with Jade's mum Jackiey, and spent lots of time playing made-up games with her.

When Jackiey was evicted without being able to say her goodbyes, Ian was almost as upset as Jade, saying he thought she would win.

But he sided with Shilpa when Jade turned nasty towards her and sided with Dirk when Cleo annoyed him with her flirtatious character Tiara.

Ian easily slipped into a routine in the house, enjoying an early morning chat with Jermaine and doing his exercises - although his fellow housemates worried when he started talking to the cameras.

He threw himself into the tasks, and was patient with housemates who had to learn the dance routines for both the Battle of the Bands and Showgirl tasks.

As day butler in the Manor task, Ian fulfilled his role easily, but still moaned to Big Brother that his fellow servants were "running on empty".

In an attempt to prove he was more than just a vacuous pop star, he told director Ken Russell about his art collection, including a "little Picasso".

And he hinted at following Shilpa over to Bollywood to capitalise on his new found fame as her friend.

Welsh-born Ian successfully made the switch to the West End after Steps split in 2001, starring in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

But now he's out of the house what else lies in store for Ian?
