Dirk is third in CBB race28/01/2007
A-Team star Dirk Benedict has come third in Celebrity Big Brother - behind friends Shilpa Shetty and Jermaine Jackson.
He shrugged as his name was announced and hugged the Bollywood actress and his best house pal before leaving to loud cheers.
He told Davina: "It was hard. It was so hard. Shilpa dumped me in the second week. I made a good run at it - I tried."
The star added that it wasn't what he expected and it was "bad".
"I had trouble understanding the accent," he laughed, fiddling with his trademark cigar.
He said he wanted Shilpa to win.
"Not only because she's so beautiful but she did so much in the house. She would do anything," he gushed.
The actor was the last celebrity to enter the house, pulling up in an A-Team style van and emerging with his signature cigar in hand.
In the house's only romance, the Montana-born bachelor immediately hit it off with Bollywood beauty Shilpa and the pair enjoyed flirting, although Shilpa admitted Dirk was too old - and the actor agreed.
"If I was 15 years younger I would make a serious move," he sighed.
That didn't stop house mums Carole and Cleo trying to matchmake the pair.
"We've got to sort this. Cleo and I have ideas," Carole reassured him.
But by the end of the show, his clashes with Cleo and Jade made him decide he didn't need a woman in his life any more.
"I realised how simple my life is without female energy around," he said.
He enjoyed having a joke with his fellow housemates when he felt like it, and dished out wisdom in their period of mourning for Jackiey.
"If you love them you let them go," he said.
He certainly didn't get on with everyone though - he famously clashed with Jade and Jo after pouring half a bottle of whisky in a rubbish bin.
"That's absolutely ridiculous," snapped Jade. "You're a grown man and you just chucked whisky in the bin because someone else wanted a drop?"
And when Cleo introduced one her characters, Tiara, who took a distinct liking to Dirk, he dished out some evil looks in her direction.
He later told Big Brother she had crossed a line by invading his space and that he wouldn't talk to her again.
But the pair made up when the actor relaxed after winning the A-Team task and even entertained the ladies with a striptease!
Dirk, who claims he beat cancer by following a macrobiotic diet, disgusted fellow housemates when he refused to wash for four days.
He was hounded by Jo O'Meara who liked to see him in a mood and got a reputation in the house for being a grumpy old man.
As housekeeper in the Manor task, Dirk was given the enviable job of planting and potting the family coat of arms, which he completed easily.
And he loved donning a ski suit for the ice cube task, which reminded him of his beloved Montana.
Father-of-three Dirk said he wanted to do Big Brother to "come out of hiding".
Who knows what lies in store now that he's out of the house?
