THE SPINTO BAND
Since supporting The Arctic Monkeys on their US tour in March, word-of-mouth has grown around these indie rockers from Wilmington, Delaware who peddle a nifty line in post punk stylings. Legend has it the band were formed when band member Nick Krill came across the personal effects of his late grandfather, guitar player Roy Spinto. Inspired by some lyrics he found, Krill formed a combo (Jon Eaton, Thomas Hughes, Nick Krill, Joe Hobson, Sam Hughes, Jeff Hobson and Albert Birney), for the band's debut album, Nice And Nicely Done. The album straddles post-punk with a healthy dose of post-modern irony, forming an indie pop sensibility that's been compared to the Flaming Lips and Pavement.
