REEL BIG FISH
Californian ska-punk collective Reel Big Fish rose to prominence on the back of the late 90s ska-pop revival with bands like No Doubt but sharing a label with the likes of Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys meant that their quirky, left field approach was never going to receive major label backing. After a decade on Jive Records, the band were dropped from the label this year. But far from mourning what might have been, lead vocalist and guitarist Aaron Barrett says the band have never been happier - now releasing their new live double CD, Our Live Album Is Better Than Your Live Album - independently. "Now that there isn't a record company, we have to do everything," says Barrett. "But I like that we have our hands in everything. There's more satisfaction in doing it ourselves." A bit of DIY never hurt anyone...
