PRIMAL SCREAM

Up until 1991 Primal Scream, formed by ex-Jesus and Mary Chain drummer Bobby Gillespie in 1984, had dabbled in psychedelia and blues rock but it was their third album, Screamadelica which gave them their real calling card. Narcotic melodies like Movin' On Up, Loaded and Come Together still sound fantastic in a festy setting. Since that album's landmark moment, the band have dabbled in dub cinematic landscapes with 1997's Vanishing Point album and the darkly, twisted psych-rock of 2000's Exterminator. Latest album, Riot City Blues sees the band return to the honky tonk piano and gritty blues guitar vibe for the feelgood music they do best. Handclaps at the ready....
