FEEDER

The single Buck Rogers quickly became Feeder's equivalent of Robbie's Angels track - their calling card. But they're no novelty band. Singer/guitarist Grant Nicholas, has steered the band from obscurity to become chart regulars, surviving the tragic suicide of drummer Jon Lee in 2002 and coming back with the music of their lives on subsequent albums Comfort In Sound and last year's Pushing The Senses. The band were formed in Newport, Gwent in the early 90s, by Nicholas and friend Lee. They relocated to London and recruited Tokyo born bassist Taka Hirose on the way. A demo tape of the group's moody, alternative metal found its way to the Echo label who signed them in mid 1995. After several hiccups, the band's rebirth came with Buck Rogers - a brash, technicolour pop song that hit the Top 5 in early 2001. It was a new dawn for the band but just a few months later Lee was found dead in his Miami home. After thoughts of giving up, Nicholas resolved to carry on. "We've come too far, it just seems tragic to give up now," he says. No one could disagree with him...
