It's not unusual for a reggae band to emerge from Kingston. Except that this time, Bedouin Soundclash are from Kingston, Ontario, Canada. In early 2000, Eon Sinclair and Jay Malinowski met at Kingston University in 2000 and discovered a mutual love of dub reggae. Djembe player Brett Dunlop was eventually added to create a richer sound. By cleverly disguising themselves as a rock band (they participated in the 2005 Warped Tour) the band have managed to sneak under the radar into cult territory in America. After winning a local battle of the bands competition, the trio recorded their debut album, Root Fire in 2002. The band's second album, Sounding A Mosaic, followed in 2004 revealing, a genuine love of reggae and ska but injected with a soulful edge that was lacking in many modern ska hipsters. Truly, Bedouin Soundclash are more than just a bunch of skankers...
