I hate the World Cup

It's great to know there are other people beside my husband and myself who hate the World Cup! It must be the only sport (so called) that is continually in your face. You cannot escape it in the newspapers, TV and in the shops. Everything is connected with it or so we are lead to believe. One supermarket even advertised toilet rolls as World Cup Special offer. As you all say they are paid thousands of pounds and the stupid fans pay large amounts to watch them. Corruption is rife in the game and apparently domestic violence increases after the games. What do we do instead of watching it? We do have Freeview and some DVDs to watch, also books to catch up with. The TV is not very good in the Summer anyhow. There is the garden and I go on the PC. It is nice to go shopping with no queues and there are markets to go to in our town. We went on a coach trip last week and managed to escape for a whole day apart from seeing flags.

World cup football? I'm sorry there really isn't the time. There's cricket and tennis just like any other summer. There are radio stations that don't have sports coverage and there's no television in the house as there is nothing to watch that makes the fee worth paying. The PC plays DVDs and I have a list as long as a year of missed films to view. There are local shows, local markets, a strong local music tradition with a number of summer shows to attend and a local theatre with a number of summer shows to attend. The kitchen floor is due to have the joists repaired. There's a new front door to fit. There's a ceiling to paint and a bedroom to redecorate. I'm on the list for an allotment and on the list of the local volunteering group. News comes online so it's pick and mix with no need to read the sports section. Oh and there's the housework to do when the local family is too busy. World cup football? I'm not sure where I'd fit in work if I was not retired.

Have you seen the 'Women for a Football-free England' website yet? I would happily ditch my Football worshipping boyfriend for a football-decontaminated one. It is not so much the fact that they spend time glued to the TV, keeping conversation to a bare minimum and neglecting any household tasks or turn into stinking slobs. They don't seem to think they have to make up for it. EVER. In their eyes it is completely acceptable. That really says it all!
If Football was a substance it would be a Class A drug, highly addictive, impairment of social skills and renders men temporarily impotent. If anyone has any ideas on how a girl can have her sweet revenge for being cast aside for football, let me know!

I dare to be different. Other blokes can't understand why I can't be bothered with footie. I just can't! Do we all have to be sheep following the crowd who are manipulated by the media for money? After all the balance is wrong.
With all the money those jumped up little self lovers get, they still behave like morons. Why don't they pay them the minimum working man's wage and put the rest into healthcare and benefits that the corrupt governments have leeched from the sheep, er sorry, people.
I'll be outside reading a book, any book, I don't care as long as it isn't about Footbal, Big Brother, Celebs or any other piece of crap that people now regard as their gods!!
